WSCB - Play, perform, belong
Our magical Christmas Concert takes place on the 6th December at St. Peter's Church Hall on The Broadway in Woodhall Spa. Doors open 6.45pm for a 7pm start. There will be a raffle & refreshments. Tickets are £7 / FOC for under 12s - available from our wonderful sponsor, Peter Scott Shoes in Woodhall Spa, via e-mail: wscbtickets@gmail.com or on the door.
In Concert with Lincoln Male Voice Choir
What a concert! What an amazing audience! Sometimes the stars align just right. Saturday 1st November saw Woodhall Spa Community Band host the Lincoln Male Voice Choir at St. Peter's Church Hall in a sell-out concert.
The first half saw the choir, conducted by Thomas Chambers, perform a range of carefully-chosen pieces including beautiful, moving renditions of Bring Him Home, You Raise Me up, The Rhythm of Life and What A Wonderful World. Accompanist, Yuan Styles, enthralled the audience with her rendition of Beethoven's Sonata Pathetique Sonata No. 8 (1st movement).
Woodhall Spa Community Band kicked off the second half in high gear with the impressive Storm, based on Vivaldi's Four Seasons, then kept the energy levels high through a medley of 60s rock classics, Abba on Broadway, raucous sea shanties and the epic Final Countdown.
The final part of the concert saw the choir and band combine to produce memorable performances of Gwahoddiad, You'll Never Walk Alone, Nessun Dorma and Oh When The Saints Go Marching In. The stirring finale of Eric Coates' Dam Busters brought audience members to their feet.

Storming Summer Concert
Rainstorms could not deter our amazing audience from venturing out to the Summer Concert at St. Peter's Hall on the 19th July. The superb programme offered a beautiful, powerful selection of music from classical favourites such as Nimrod, Toccata in D Minor and Fanfare for the Common Man, through Vaughan Williams' Folk Song Suite, a rousing medley of sea shanties, to foot-stomping marches, West Side Story, Mancini Magic and pop anthems from The Beatles and Europe. Another storming concert from WSCB under the baton of Tom Law. Thanks to all who attended - we hope to see you again at our next concert in November! A Cinematic Celebration Concert
What a brilliant concert! The band had a blast performing for the lovely, appreciative audience - there was lots of toe-tapping and swaying going on! The programme included a mix of old and new, from Singin' In the Rain to The Greatest Showman, a medley of Bond themes from across the decades including the explosive finale of Live & Let Die. We also performed favourite Disney tunes from Mary Poppins, Pinocchio, The Lion King, a storming rendition of tunes from Pirates of the Caribbean and the atmospheric themes from How to Train Your Dragon among many others. A truly Cinematic Celebration! Thank you to all who came to see us - your support is really appreciated and it is lovely to see the fruits of our hard work enjoyed by the local community. WSCB is especially grateful to Peter Scott Shoes for their ongoing generous sponsorship and raffle donations. We'd also like to thank Woodhall Spa Co-op for their help with refreshments and the Kinema in the Woods for their raffle donation. Lights, cameras, music!! Come and enjoy an evening of magical movie music from Woodhall Spa's very own Community Band, conducted by expert MD, Tom Law. You will be transported in time and space by fantastic themes, terrific tunes and mesmerizing melodies. Cracking Christmas Concert 2024
Absolutely stonkingly good Christmas Concert at St. Peter's Hall last night. The evening was fun, entertaining and thoroughly enjoyed by all. The band sounded amazing! Feedback has been incredible so far; "joyous", "with lots of fun and laughter injected into the evening" and praising the "superb musicians" and the 24-prize advent mega raffle. The festive programme included plenty of musical highlights as well as audience participation with carol singing and light-hearted interpretative dance to the Twelve Days of Christmas! Concert Success for Spa Community Band
The evening of Friday 7th June saw the first independent concert held by Woodhall Spa Community Band. The successful event at St Peter’s Church Hall on The Broadway in Woodhall Spa, was very well-attended and supported by the village and surrounding area. Conducted by Musical Director, Andrew Morley, the programme included a fantastic mix of classical, traditional, modern, West End show, swing and jazz music. The stirring might of The Dambusters and impressive Instant Concert encore rounded off a very enjoyable performance with attendees tapping their toes and clapping along.
The band was very pleased and encouraged to receive amazing positive feedback praising the evening; “A great performance” and “So much talent on show!” Audience members enjoyed interval refreshments and the chance to take part in a raffle with some super prizes. Among the first prizes to be won were vouchers generously donated by the concert’s sponsor, Peter Scott Shoes of The Broadway, along with donations from Lily’s Boutique and Horncastle Co-op. The band is very grateful for the support received locally for the event; for the volunteers who helped with front of house, refreshments and compering, and for the contributions by friends of the band, Pete Barnfather, Jim McQuade BEM and JJ Baigent, who performed as guests. The funds raised by the concert will be crucial for the band’s future growth and further development of its musical repertoire.
Hopefully, this will be the first of many such concerts by the band for the public and they are already planning their next stand-alone appearance for later in the year.
